Allies & Safe Spaces

Look for these cards around campus (typically on room doors) distributed by the LGBTA+ Resource Center to help identify staff, faculty and others who are LGBTA+ supportive. Locator coming soon, please see this list at this time.

	Safe Spaces are environments where individuals know they will be accepted for who they are and personal safety is valued.
	Allies are people who are supportive of the LGBTQA+ community.

Community

• The Alley - nightclub in Lincoln.
• Outlinc - Lincoln related LGBTQA+ information and events.
• PFLAG Cornhusker - Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays in Lincoln, Nebraska.
• Planned Parenthood - accessible, affordable reproductive health care and education and advocacy for reproductive rights.
• Queer Nebraska Youth Network - LGBTQA+ people between 15-24 years old in Nebraska.
• Star City Pride - Pride in Lincoln.

• CGLBTC - Committee For Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns.
• LGBTQA+ Resource Center - located on the third floor of the Nebraska Union, room 346. 402-472-1752
• Scholarships and Awards - various awards and scholarships for LGBTQA+ students 
• OAISIS - academic success and intercultural services, located in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center. 402-472-5500
• St. Mark's on the Campus - has student outreach, including a study lounge during the fall and spring semesters.
• The 234 - the main hub for Spectrum UNL, located on the second floor of the Nebraska Union, room 234.

• GLAAD - media monitoring organization which promotes the image of LGBTQA+ people in the media.
• Human Rights Campaign - Amercia's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality.
• I'm From Driftwood - LGBTQA+ story archive.
• It Gets Better Project - Brings messages of hope for LGBTQA+ youth.
• We Are the Youth - stories of American LGBTQA+ youth.

Report A Problem

• Bias Response - report harassment, suspected or actual discrimination, violations of student code of conduct and policies such as the university's non-discrimination policy.
• University Police - report any campus crimes with the University Police. 402-472-2222

Sexual Health

• Nebraska AIDS Project - Nebraska's fight to overcome HIV/AIDS.
• University Health Center - Provides STD (paid) and free HIV testing.
• Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center - Free HIV testing Mondays and Thursdays from 12pm-2pm.

Suicide Prevention

• Line-to-Care - contact CAPS after business hours for emergency situations. 402-219-8050
• The Trevor Project - in case you are in need of a 24/7 suicide prevention lifeline, please call 1-866-488-7386. The Trevor Project specializes in LGBTQA+ situations.
• University Police - officers are trained to assist in preventing suicidal situations and connect with proper resources. 402-472-2222
