Allies & Safe Spaces

Look for these cards around campus (typically on room doors) distributed by the LGBTA+ Resource Center to help identify staff, faculty and others who are LGBTA+ supportive. Locator coming soon, please see this list at this time.
Safe Spaces are environments where individuals know they will be accepted for who they are and personal safety is valued.
Allies are people who are supportive of the LGBTQA+ community.

Community

Counseling

  • CAPS - UNL Counseling and Psychological Services. Located on the second floor in the University Health Center. 402-472-7450

  • CGLBTC - Committee For Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns.
  • LGBTQA+ Resource Center - located on the third floor of the Nebraska Union, room 346. 402-472-1752
  • Scholarships and Awards - various awards and scholarships for LGBTQA+ students 
  • OAISIS - academic success and intercultural services, located in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center. 402-472-5500
  • St. Mark's on the Campus - has student outreach, including a study lounge during the fall and spring semesters.
  • The 234 - the main hub for Spectrum UNL, located on the second floor of the Nebraska Union, room 234.

Report A Problem

  • Bias Response - report harassment, suspected or actual discrimination, violations of student code of conduct and policies such as the university's non-discrimination policy.
  • University Police - report any campus crimes with the University Police. 402-472-2222

Suicide Prevention

  • Line-to-Care - contact CAPS after business hours for emergency situations. 402-219-8050
  • The Trevor Project - in case you are in need of a 24/7 suicide prevention lifeline, please call 1-866-488-7386. The Trevor Project specializes in LGBTQA+ situations.
  • University Police - officers are trained to assist in preventing suicidal situations and connect with proper resources. 402-472-2222
